Blast from the past!!!

I know, this blog is quite random and nothing to do with momma, but there is a purpose.  These blogs were all from "myspace". I know, I know, myspace was CENTURIES ago! I just looked at them and thought it would be fun to look at and compare to my life today.  I am actually pretty similar to who I was 5 years ago... Read if you are bored :)

Current mood:contemplative
"When one of your dreams come true, you begin to look at the others more carefully." --Anon.
sometimes you just get carried away in the moment, and forget your true purpose in life...i've spent the last 6 years towards one goal, only for it to be in my grasp within the next few months...graduation from nursing school...during these last 2 years, school has been my life...everything and everyone in my life revolving around it constantly...but what's next when this ride is over? my other dreams have faded into the background as my career has taken forefront...i am tired of it already, and it hasn't even begun...is that a bad thing? maybe so....but while i am meandering through these next gruelling months of school, i am going to take some time to re-evaluate those other dreams that have been put on the back burner...i feel like a part of me has been found, but the other has been lost and forgotten...

  • the student nurse’s prayer...

Lord: I know we go through this every day but please give me the knowledge as to why I actually wanted to go to nursing school. Lord, give me the strength to make it through those boring three hour lectures without falling asleep. Lord, please give me the patience to make it through twelve hour clinicals with instructors that can't just give you the right answer and on the same note, give the nurses the ability to remember what it was like to be a student and give us just a little more respect. Lord, give me the endurance to read all the assigned readings and be able to remember it when I am taking a test with four right answers. Lord, give my family and friends the ability to realize I really am on the edge of insanity. Finally, Lord, give me the vision to see that one day I will be a real nurse and I will never have to wear this ugly uniform again.

    90's Kid

Anybody under the age of 16 should not repost this. ;D Just 'cuz you were born in '92 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid. It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons.

    You know you're a 90's kid if...

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

    You remember reading "Goosebumps"

TGIF was a very important event on friday night.

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger were meant to be together.

You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up"

    or "Did I do that..hehehahusnort!"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide

    Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
    by Joe Butt

    Profile: ENFJ
    Revision: 3.0
Date of Revision: 23 Feb 2005

ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate organization and decisiveness. But they don't resemble the SJs or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor occasional recalcitrance. ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered, but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.

ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of the burdens of others than they can bear.
TRADEMARK: "The first shall be last"

This refers to the open-door policy of ENFJs. One ENFJ colleague always welcomes me into his office regardless of his own circumstances. If another person comes to the door, he allows them to interrupt our conversation with their need. While discussing that need, the phone rings and he stops to answer it. Others drop in with a 'quick question.' I finally get up, go to my office and use the call waiting feature on the telephone. When he hangs up, I have his undivided attention!

    Functional Analysis:
    Extraverted Feeling

Extraverted Feeling rules the ENFJ's psyche. In the sway of this rational function, these folks are predisposed to closure in matters pertaining to people, and especially on behalf of their beloved. As extraverts, their contacts are wide ranging. Face-to-face relationships are intense, personable and warm, though they may be so infrequently achieved that intimate friendships are rare.
    Introverted iNtuition

Like their INFJ cousins, ENFJs are blessed through introverted intuition with clarity of perception in the inner, unconscious world. Dominant Feeling prefers to find the silver lining in even the most beggarly perceptions of those in their expanding circle of friends and, of course, in themselves. In less balanced individuals, such mitigation of the unseemly eventually undermines the ENFJ's integrity and frequently their good name. In healthier individuals, deft use of this awareness of the inner needs and desires of others enables this astute type to win friends, influence people, and avoid compromising entanglements.

The dynamic nature of their intuition moves ENFJs from one project to another with the assurance that the next one will be perfect, or much more nearly so than the last. ENFJs are continually looking for newer and better solutions to benefit their extensive family, staff, or organization.
    Extraverted Sensing

Sensing is extraverted. ENFJs can manage details, particularly those necessary to implement the prevailing vision. These data have, however, a magical flexible quality. Something to be bought can be had for a song; the same something is invaluable when it's time to sell. (We are not certain, but we suspect that such is the influence of the primary function.) This wavering of sensory perception is made possible by the weaker and less mature status with which the tertiary is endowed.
    Introverted Thinking

Introverted Thinking is least apparent and most enigmatic in this type. In fact, it often appears only when summoned by Feeling. At times only in jest, but in earnest if need be, Thinking entertains as logical only those conclusions which support Feeling's values. Other scenarios can be shown invalid or at best significantly inferior. Such "Thinking in the service of Feeling" has the appearance of logic, but somehow it never quite adds up.

Introverted Thinking is frequently the focus of the spiritual quest of ENFJs. David's lengthiest psalm, 119, pays it homage. "Law," "precept," "commandment," "statute:" these essences of inner thinking are the mysteries of Deity for which this great Feeler's soul searched.

    Abraham Lincoln

    Student Testimonials or
"How To Be Successful in the Nursing Program"

"Organize and prioritize. Be dedicated. Set limits with family who don't understand. Know your drugs. Look over practice problems in work books. It is a major help. Go for 90% or better. Don't make the bottom line 80%. Look for medlines on what ever you are studying. Stay the course." Heather Oliver

"I think how to be successful in the nursing program would be to have confidence and trust your knowledge." Holly Rudack

    1. Learn from your mistakes, correct them, and move on.
    2. Use a calendar or planner to help manage your time and keep you on task.
    3. Take time for yourself at least once everyday.
    4. Utilize all the resources the college has available to you, like your instructors, computer labs, skills lab, nursing club, library, and counselors.
    5. Keep your eyes on the goal. Julie Henderson, Student Nurse

"Get together and study in groups. Quizzing each other is really helpful. Also, If you're struggling, talk to the instructor! They all are so awesome and willing to help you out!" Meghan Deery :)

"First, never think for one second that any part of this program will be "easy"! Try to work as little as possible, this may not be applicable to all potential students.

If you have kids while in this program you may feel like a bad parent at times, remember you're doing this to make your life and theirs better-you can make up for it later!

Show up to class, do your home work, try to study in groups (if that works for you), work ahead if you can, have a productive outlet for stress, get to know the people around you-you may need to rely on them at some point in the next 2 years, learn from your mistakes, always review your test if you have the option, be confident!, ask for help before it's too late and use the resources you have available.

Never underestimate what you can do!! You'll surprise yourself!" Nicole Lee

"Be responsible for organizing your time, get projects and papers done on time, don't ask for extensions - this simply will show your instructor that you are unable to plan. Don't try to cram for tests and expect to do well. Be prepared to have your nursing program take up a large part of your life. It is almost impossible to be successful in this program if you do not invest a great deal of time and energy. Try to find a couple good study partners - this will help you with not only studying for tests, etc., but also will give you moral support, a cheering section, or a shoulder if you need it." Nina Kramer

Quotes that helped me get through first semester of nursing school:

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt

"So long as we believe we are only human, we are going to experience pain, suffering, tears, disease, and death."
    -Donald Curtis

"Whether you think you can or you think you cant-you're right!" -Henry Ford

"The journey in between what you once were and who you are now becoming is where the dance of life really takes place." -Barbara De Angelis

"Shoot for the moon, you will land among the stars"
    -Anonymous
    Sara Michielson

"Never look back at what could have been, keep looking forward at what will be. (I'm not sure if someone ever said that but I tell myself this all the time.)" Tammy J. Sauer

-surrounding yourself with encouraging people and classmates
-finding people you study well with -stay positive, never give up and just push yourself to give 150% -make school your priority over work, social events, etc.
-get to know your instructors and ask lots of questions, so that when you take a class you don't just get a good grade, but you truly leave having learned many valuable things for nursing career -Trisha Reed, 3rd semester student, River Falls

"Join organizations such as the Wisconsin Student Nurses' Association and the National Student Nurses' Association. They will provide you with resources and an avenue for networking as you progress through your academic career as a nursing student."-William C. Braasch ADNS

"Talk to your instructors. They have all been through this before and may have some helpful study hints to get you through the hard times." Gretchen Ball
    1. Try to study your notes every day or at least every other day. It helps to retain the info for the test and in the clinical setting.
    2. If things aren't going well, get a tutor right away and go talk to your teacher.
    3. Remember, the teachers are here to help you succeed and do your best. Talk to them. They are very helpful!!!! They really do care!!!
    4. Find others to study, hang out with, laugh, cry and vent. School is much more enjoyable that way. Elizabeth Ruth Mayo

"You have two ears and one mouth, listen twice as much as you speak.

One thing that also worked for me, was to not listen to what other students were saying about certain instructors.....you need to be open to everyone teaching style and mold yourself to them. They are not going to spoon feed you everything.

Always feel as though you can do it, jump head first into things, the only way to learn is to try, and to error is human, learn from it, if you do not learn from your errors you will never make it." Shawn Breezee

Woke up this morning at 8am to my phone ringing.  Nursing school this August.  They have a place for me. Here I come!  Time to break out the text books, calcuators, freshly sharpened pencils, massive amounts of coffee, and maybe my brain to tag along on the 2 year ride.  I thought this day would never come, but it has, and I'm ready for it, or at least I hope I am....  Excited yet scared at the same time....  Hello student loans, goodbye jobs.....  Hello library and various coffee shops, goodbye bars and crazy nightlife.....  Life is full of changes, and I'm ready for this one.. I'd better be....I've only been waiting for this for the past 5 years...
  • Tis the season for...

BASEBALL!!!!!  It's time for those beer drinking, hot-dog eating, baseball cap wearing, cheering from the stands with your loudest voice season!! Go Padres!!

  • yay for autumn!

So these past few days have been starting to get chilly. Fall has finally arrived!!  Goodbye summer offically.  Time to break out the hot chocolate, fuzzy blankets, big socks, good books, scarfs, board games, good movies to cuddle up to on the couch with,  and fresh apple pie with vanilla ice cream.  Autumn is a great season, and I'm glad it's back! :)

So today was my last day at Applebees...I start training at my new job this tuesday in the nicu at ucsd hospital as a unit nurse secretary....So many feelings I'm having about this change...I will miss seeing my co-workers at Applebees all the time, who have become great friends of mine...I will miss the tips, this is going to be a difficult change....I'm scared that my new job will be super stressful, and I'm going to regret the decision I've made....I'm also excited on the other hand to start up something new, and to face other challenges...This is a big change for me job wise, before Applebees I was at another restraunt, doin the same thing basically...I hope that this new job will give me more direction career wise, and to know for sure that I want to be a nurse someday...I always tell myself that everything must happen for a reason...So I guess that moving on and embracing change is necessary for all of us in life, it's just hard to accept in the beggining...
  • my dream guy

So..... I've realized how tough it is to find someone you are compatiable with.  There are so many people in this world.... it should be easy to find someone, but its definately not...There are so many aspects you have to look at...So, these are my factors of the perfect guy in my book....

~A strong person who believes that the glass is indeed half full, and not empty...When certain situations arise in life, he rises above them, and conquers them without looking back.
~Someone who can make me laugh, and I can make him laugh the same.  He is just as random as me, and we could go on forever with the lamest jokes ever...
~I can spend hours and hours talking with him about anything..
~He does the little things to show he truly cares.... like a cute text at a  random time, a grocery run to get me chicken noodle soup when I'm sick, gets me that book I nonchalently said I wanted at the bookstore, or an occasional bouquet of flowers.
~He enjoys the simple pleasures in life...like watching movies on a rainy day with comfy blankets and our hot chocolate in hand, listening to music together by the pool, swinging on the swings at the local playground, looking up at the stars at night, or playing football and basketball at the park..
~Likes to be spontanous and adventurous, like going on a random road trip to Las Vegas or Colorado, or backpacking through Europe.
~He's open minded, down to earth, and hard working.
~He is a genuine person who has strong values and morals.
~He is completely loyal, and even though I know there are other prety girls in this world, he always shows and tells me that I'm beautiful and I'm the one for him.
